About

The Waterfront Workshop is a series of retreats and camps designed to stimulate musical creativity, enhance musicianship, and develop technical skills to carry you on your artistic journey.

Helmed by Sarah Larsen, the Waterfront Workshop currently offers three events: Fiddle Camp, Viola Camp, and the Women’s Bluegrass Retreat. Click the titles to learn more about these offerings.

Sarah Larsen is a multi-faceted teacher & musician. With a full private studio in Annapolis and a busy performance schedule, Sarah makes her living in music. Her great passion is helping others achieve their musical dreams and grow artistically, and she created the Waterfront Workshop as a safe space for exactly that.

A Violinist/Fiddlers Retreat

June 20-25, 2024 in Royal Oak, MD

The Waterfront Workshop is an idyllic backdrop to focus on developing specific skills that blossoming young instrumentalists will carry with them wherever their music takes them.

Taught by a diverse faculty, students will have the chance to focus on creativity, technique, ear training, the art of practice, musicianship, and expressionism.

Students will spend their days on individual practice, pairing with other students to learn duets and work on chamber music skills, and enjoy coaching from our excellent and well-rounded faculty. Ear training will be taught in the form of a daily “fiddle tune” class. Students will also enjoy an incredibly beautiful setting on the Chesapeake Bay shore just outside Saint Michaels, MD.

Our faculty represents different genres and styles of violin playing. We believe in becoming well-rounded musicians and using other styles of music to build skills that can be applied to our overall journey through music. Learn more about our teachers below!
